Harry Potter Wands Wiki

Sirius Black's wand's history is really confusing. Sirius was an Azkaban resident, so it was taken away from him. He most likely made his own because Ollivander most likely would've been afraid of him.

Description[]

The wand is flat and smooth, with designs carved onto the side. It is said that those carving say "more or less human", pointing to him being an animagas. A deep shade of black in most of its appearances. Based on the recent release of the Celtic Calendar and the correlation with wands, we can assume his wand is a Reed wand since he was born November 3rd. His wand is also sold at 15” while this might not be the canon length.

Theorizing that his wand was strong since he was known as one of the best wizards in his year. We can assume it’s probably Dragon Heart String since he’s a very capable and strong wizard who probably wouldn’t have the patience for Phoenix Feather. And Unicorn hair would be too weak for him, considering they die quickly and have to be replaced.

History[]

Use at Hogwarts[]

Sirius dueling

The wand was not used often at Hogwarts, because Sirius was never there as an adult. When he was a kid, he used it to become an Animagus to help his friend Remus Lupin, complete assignments and participate in classes, and jinx his sworn schoolyard rival Severus Snape). It was also used in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, where he later died.

Unknown Fate[]

The wand might’ve died with him when he was knocked into the Veil by his cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange. Considering it was probably Dragon Heartstring, it also might not have died like a Unicorn Tail and just clattered to the ground in The Department Of Mysteries when he was killed by Bellatrix.
